The Foundation Degree in Tournament Golf and Applied Golf Sciences is a course designed for students who wish to learn the sport specific scientific knowledge required to train and coach professional golfers. It is also designed for students who wish to become directors of golf and progress to executive and managerial positions.
The course aims to help students improve their playing skills and apply an array of performance enhancing techniques used by coaches and golf scientists who work with elite golfers. Students will also have an opportunity to work with a team of player's, coaches and sport science practitioners who work on the European Tour.
Students will achieve a degree that gives them both experiential and scientific knowledge in how to enhance the performance of golfers. They will gain skills in golf performance analysis, applied golf science, nutrition and ergogenic aids, strength and conditioning, biomechanics and functional movement, applied golf psychology, tour based learning 1 and 2, research methods and academic skills.
Competing or coaching on a golf tour is an integral part of the degree, which enables you to put the theory you have learned in to practice. A mentoring system will be set up to support this learning objective. Students will also have access to their own team of coaches and golf scientists to support them every step of the way. 
The course is also supported by numerous workshops from several leading experts in the world of golf including European Tour professionals and Ryder Cup players. As a student on this course you can attend this degree programme full-time or part-time or through online distance learning.
  1. Course Fees
    FT and PT students pay £1,500 per module. You will be tutored by top British and European senior lecturers in sports science and research. To receive a Diploma you need to complete 5 modules at level 4. To receive your degree you need to complete the Diploma and complete 5 modules at level 5.
  2. Entry Requirements
    You will need A2 qualifications or a BTEC National Diploma preferably in sport or science. You will also need to have a number of GCSE's at grade C or above including science and English. International students must show equivalent qualifications. Access opportunities are also available through our one year access programme.
